When combining different textures the outfit feels more expensive. You don't have to buy expensive clothes to look/feel expensively dressed. Rather focus on quality (more expensive price) in bags, shoes, jackets and some accessories like watches or earrings. In clothing the key is to combine hard and soft textures and colours. Hard textures are for example leather, jeans fabric, linen or plastic textures. If you only dress in black leather you will most likely step out your door looking like a lady domina. If you only wear soft textures like college or jersey, you might not step out at all and just stay on the couch in your pyjamalike outfit. Mixing and combining is the answer.
Some hard materials can look soft depending on the colours, for instance leather. If leather is light coloured it looks more soft than dark leather textures. With this rule you can play with different textures and colours.
For this casual outfit I combined the softness of the flowy shirt and the somewhat hard suede skirt and leather bag. This outfit could also work with a full leather skirt instead of the suede one. All the colours in this outfit are soft.
The same soft-hard rule can be applied for the office. In this outfit the beige leather pants and the blue shirt make the perfect combination. And adding the simple pumps and blazer make it perfect for the office environment!
